Chelsea stops Manchester City: Liverpool’s first!

Chelsea FC defeated Manchester City 2-0 in the Premier League top game of the 16th matchday, with the Citizens losing the lead to opponents Liverpool.

Chelsea initially managed to slow down the attacking force of the reigning English champions as much as possible. However, the opportunities that Manchester City had became more and more promising. After 33 minutes Leroy Sané was about to cheer, but César Azpilicueta saved the Blues from the goal with a great slide tackle. Instead, the first goal of the gamefell on the other side. Eden Hazard cleverly passed the ball to N’Golo Kanté, who was waiting to strike the ball under the crossbar (45th minute). Nobody had covered the Frenchman.

In the second half, Chelsea left Pep Guardiola’s City in charge of the ball possession, who were surprisinglyunaware of what they were doing. Maurizio Sarri had set his team defensively very well and Chelsea was absolutely effective at the front. With their firstcorner, City had already executed eleven corners unsuccessfully, the Blues scored the second goal of the evening (78th minute). David Luiz had jumped higher than the defense of the Skyblues and his great header lead to the final score of 2-0. The 2-0 defeat meant the first league defeat of the season for City. Liverpool remains unbeaten and is the now leading the league.

Goals: 1:0 Kanté (45th min. ), 2:0 Luiz (78th min.)

  1. Frankly: I do not have any clue at all! I’ll try to find out, being able to watch some of the upcoming key matches, hopefully (and hoping to enjoy them, of course).
